I’ve mentioned in these pages the word ‘costal’ in relation to Mojácar – and there is a 7km stretch of beach. In my experience the beaches are kept clean, there seems to be lots of space, and you can walk up and down the beach, and from the beach and into a restaurant or bar.
You can of course drive up and down the beach, the parking is easy (especially off season), with bus access.
And if you do have a car, jumping in the car will give you access to more secluded beaches and coves.
Blue Flag Beaches
I have to confess that Mojácar doesn’t boast the prettiest beaches, they’re a coarse sand – but there are several blue flag beaches in the area – which indicates clean water quality. Blue flags is a voluntary organisation which awards flags for (amongst other things), the water quality. For more information see blueflag.org including an up to date list of beaches which have been awarded the blue flag.
